Pony Haugh (field) is a long
pool which lies below the Newhall bridge. The
bank is open into the field which makes an overhead
cast possible. Most fish tend to lie in the
belly of the pool and in high water the tail.
Two good lies are easy to spot in the spring
as they are next to reed beds. In the past the
head of the pool was popular with sea trout
anglers, although both anglers and sea trout
are a little thin on the ground these days.
The best of recent years was a 14lb
kelt.

Access to the pool is from
the car park next to Newhall Bridge.
