Mitre Angling Club

Provides outstanding quality fishing on fifteen miles of rivers, including stretches of the River Calder, River Ribble, River Wharfe and River Doe and on two reservoirs (Cant Clough Reservoir, Elslack Reservoir) all in beautiful surroundings in the Lancashire and Yorkshire countryside.

Mitre club members are predominantly fly fishermen, although opportunities exist for spinning and bait fishing on selected waters. Fishing is for brown and rainbow trout, grayling, coarse fish, and some salmon and sea trout.

River Doe, Ingleton
Two miles of fishing on this limestone beck, near Ingleton. Fly fishing for wild brown trout, in beautiful and dramatic surroundings. Quality at its best, without exception heaven sent.

River Calder, Martholme

One mile of good wild brown trout, sea trout, grayling and chub fishing on two lengths of the Calder, near Whalley.

River Calder, Padiham

Two miles of good wild brown trout, grayling and chub fishing on stretches of the Calder, near Padiham .

River Calder, Shuttleworth
Comprises 1.25 miles part right and part left bank below Padiham. There is good wild brown trout, sea trout, grayling and chub.

River Ribble, Helwith Bridge
Fly and worm for trout, and spinning for salmon.

River Ribble, Long Preston.
One mile of Long Preston Deeps, on the upper Ribble. A mixed fishery with predominantly trout and chub, and some pike, dace, grayling, sea trout and salmon.

River Wharfe, Yorkshire Dales
Half a mile of excellent and varied fly water on this classic North Yorkshire river. Contains excellent Trout and Grayling.

Swanside Beck, Rimington
Four miles of fishing with fly, worm and spinner for trout, sea trout and occasional salmon.

Eslack Beck,Thornton-in-Craven
Two miles of fly and worm fishing for brown trout.

Elslack Reservoir, Skipton
All year round fishing for rainbow trout in this five acre reservoir between Colne and Skipton. Fly and float fished worm. Some brown trout are stocked as growth markers which are not to be removed.

Cant Clough Reservoir, Burnley
Forty acre reservoir in the Pennines above Burnley. Fly fishing and spinning for wild brown trout, supplemented by a few stocked browns. If you want the alternative to river this is the place for an outstanding location.
