Based in beautiful Dumfries & Galloway she offers full holiday packages including Bed and Breakfast and guided days on rivers and lochs.
Sue specifically caters to fishermens needs providing drying facilities, rod and reel washing facilities, late snacks and early breakfasts.
Many people like to learn new techniques in private without having an audience.
She can take you to quiet locations with hourly lessons near Dalbeattie or half and full days further afield.
Sue is very good indeed. I had not handled a fly rod for years, due to illness, and she soon had me casting properly, and knowing what I had done wrong when the cast did not work out so well. She is highly-knowledgeable, and also an excellent and patient teacher.
I would reommend her to anyone.
I also stayed at her B&B. I booked the Saturday afternoon for tuition (on the River Urr), an evening meal at the B&B, and more tuition on the Sunday morning (at a local and very beautiful, peaceful reservoir), an excellent arrangement. I recommend the B&B very highly as well, whether you are having instruction or not. The food is first rate, with fresh bread baked by her partner, Simon.
I can’t really comment on the fish, as I only caught a couple of par, which I released, but other people were landing, both on the river and in the loch.
