The Fishings

Seven miles (middle stretch) of the White Cart Water; from waterfoot downstream to Crookstone.
Four miles (lower stretch) of the Leven Water from Gateside/Barrhead to Crookston (all tributaries).

Location

By car 10 to 15 minutes south of Glasgow; bus takes slightly longer. From 2 to 7 miles from the city centre.

Species

Salmon, sea & brown trout

Seasons

Salmon and sea trout between 11th February and 31st October: both dates inclusive except when they fall on Sundays.

Brown trout 15th March to 6th October inclusive.

Coarse fishing not permitted at any time.

Additional Information

Days out arranged to other waters. Guidance/instruction for new members, beginners or visitors by arrangement with the Secretary. Full Membership gained through buying a season permit – no joining fees. Rules are printed on the permits. Permits must be purchased before approaching  the water. Warranted Bailiffs have their powers of search, seizure and arrest.

Heaviest reported (verified) salmon – 11 lbs,
sea trout – 6 lbs, brown trout – 5.5 lbs

    I was going to start fishing at the river whitecart at the normandy hotel when it meets black cart and 1mile from clyde whats the chances of catching any fish here i only live 2 mins away and theres nice spots to do it thnx and all advice will help :)

    2lb brown trout cought at waterfoot with worm last week, fishing been good.

    To jim25 comment below, I don’t think that’s correct, think permit is needed for all waters, contact Robert Finnie by phone , number is above, he will keep you correct.

    hi im new to flyfishing and have been looking for somewhere to fish close to me . where in crookston dose the fishing start ,if you could let me know it would a big help because im thinking of buying a season ticket for 2013

      you would be better to text the chap about this info as i posted on here and did not get a reply so text the mr r finnie i think it start from the bridge in busby and go`s down stream from there oh and the year fee is£30.00 and not 25.00 as this site says i dont think he is on this site much

    just an inquiry on the trout and salmon fishings available, how productive are they compared to the river leven and the river endick which is where i usually fish but im finding the fishing there now poor for to much money .plus i only manage to get out the odd sat morning now so its financially silly for me to spend lots of money for a permit i dont use for most of the year .

    could you confirm the day cost and season fee and if i could get a pass for a sunday fishing as i work mon-sat and any rules i may need to know

    Hi . If you go to the drake cafe and get a permit .they will lend you the tools you need for free . They also offer fishing day trips when the suns out .

    I am interested in fishing,although i havn’t done it before.but i do like to get a membership and start fishing.is there anybody to help me and guide me and also do i need to get my own tools or i can borrow them at the sight.
