The club was formed in 1949 by the late Jimmy Critchley and Arthur Dickinson. It was to be known as the ICI Weston Club Angling Section, and was a part of the ICI Recreation Club, and remained in this state for some 45 years. When the recreation club was sold to a private group in 1994, the fishing section decided also to go private. The name was changed to Weston Angling Club Runcorn, and the club set about raising funds so that Sandymoor Pool at least, could be bought outright. The club is now thriving, with around 500 members, and currently has access to two different waters.

Sandymoor Pool is our clubs flagship water, and has been owned outright by the club since 1994. A very picturesque lake of about 5.2 acres, set in 7 acres of land, this fantastic water is easily accesible from all of Runcorn and the surrounding area, via the A557 Daresbury expressway.

Species of fish present include Common and Mirror Carp, Tench, Roach, Rudd, Perch, Bream, Gudgeon, Chub, Crucian Carp. We have also just introduced a number of Barbel.

Greenswood Pond is Leased from The Woodland Trust, it is approximately half an acre in size, and offers some spectacular fishing for such a small water, especially later on in the year.

Situated approximately 100 yards from the car park, along a woodland path, and with only 12 swims, it is generally a quiet and peaceful water. Species of fish present include Roach, Rudd, Perch, Tench, and Crucian Carp.
