River Ivel (CEMEX)

River Ivel

This stretch of the River Ivel is a small-river fishery that seems to get better as the season progresses, especially once the weed begins to die back. Chub are the main target species and the chance of a 5lb fish is not uncommon although barbel are present in this stretch to specimen sizes. Fish fall to both specialist and match style approaches, with maggot, worm, hemp and caster particularly effective baits. Bank side features such as cut-outs, tree roots and weed rafts in the margins should not be ignored when targeting the chub and barbel populations.
