Dartford & District Angling & Preservation Society

Dartford and District Angling and Preservation Society. Kents premier angling club since 1931. Angling for all species of fresh water fish in its lakes at Dartford, Sutton at Hone and Horton Kirby as well as stretches of the Rivers Medway, Beult and Tiese.

There are four lakes plus a section of the River Darent. As you enter the fishery, the lake on the left is Westminster, the lake on the right is Viaduct. If you continue to walk between the lakes you will come to the Western lake. The Silt pond lies between the river and Westminster lake.

At Sutton is a section of the River Darent plus 2 lakes.

Brooklands is DDAPs’ day ticket water and is situated near Dartford town centre. Tickets can be purchased on the bank from one of our helpful bailiffs. For those who have not visited this approximately 17 acre gravel pit complex for a while there have been some dramatic changes to the landscape. Many previously inaccessible places can now be fished in reasonable comfort via rebuilt pathways.

The club also has waters on the rivers Beult and Tiese.

I was sent along to Brooklands to check out the suitability of this venue for my group of mates. We are a group of 50 plus males who like a change of venue. I heard some good reports about this lake. When I first looked in from the powder mill lane entrance it looked fantastic. However a 15 minute walk round proved to be a little disappointing. The lakes looked to be full of weed. 3 anglers I spoke to had all been snagged on the weed many times throughout their session. Rules were being broken by a large group of youngsters clearly under the age outlined in the rules. They did though look serious about their angling. There were a number of men wandering around alone looking rather suspicious. All the anglers we spoke to had not caught much. After seeing the picture of the man snaffling that swan my guess is him and his mates no doubt also have a taste for carp meat. That’s true of a few round my area also. We called by Saturday evening about 7 o clockish and as we left there were a group of lads, late teens early twenties, entering the place clearly without any intention of fishing the venue. What were they going in there for? maybe the young lady we saw walking around on her own!!! How sad. A fantastic looking place with bags and bags of potential, but we won’t be visiting it in the near future.
