Castle Loch

Castle Loch Castle Loch

Castle loch fishery near Lochmaben is Scotland’s premier specimen coarse fishery. The loch is just under two hundred acres and set in pleasant natural surroundings in south west Scotland. Castle Loch is not only one of Britains Premier Coarse Fisheries but also a peaceful nature reserve. We are the only fishery to have ever held three national records (Scottish) at the same time.  Currently we hold the Scottish Record Tench and the Scottish Record Bream and have just recently lost the Scottish Record Carp title which we held for over 5 years.

We also have a team of Fully Qualifed Professional Angling Coaches.

Fishing is by a day ticket system and permits must be purchased prior to fishing. Permits are available online, or from the post office (newsagent) in Loch Maben or from Halleaths Caravan Park. Do not start fishing without a permit as you will be asked to leave. Season permits are also available from the fishery managers.

The Castle holds the current bream record and has provided the four previous records. The average size of the Castle loch slabs is over seven pounds and you have a good chance of a double figure specimen. It is not just bream that make Castle Loch special with tench to over ten pounds (Scottish record). We regularly have tench to over seven pounds. We also have specimen carp (Old Scottish record) 28lb 4oz. Most of the carp are over twenty pounds. Not easy water for carp but well worth the long days when you catch one. Also reaching specimen proportions are roach and perch. We have a good head of pike to 30lb.
