Connor Netleton, one of our regular junior carper’s, visited us for a day fish and within 5 minutes of getting his bait in the water he hooked into, what was found later, to be a 24lb Common Carp. Connor was the envy of the lake as none of the other four anglers had not caught anything overnight! Connor used our exclusive to Newbarn Farm Carp-Tec Orange boilie.

Harry and Nick, from Paignton, had a night session where they both had one carp each. Harry weighed in Casper, our celebrity Ghost Carp, at 23lbs 4ozs using a zig rig at three feet off the bottom. Nick Solomon had a nice Mirror Carp of 10lbs.

Scott Bryant had a 48 hour session and in the cold conditions managed to catch two Mirrors of 12lbs 6ozs and 14lbs followed by a Common of 10lbs.

Visiting Willow Pool again, Bob Bartrum of Brixham, had a busy day with constant bites throughout his session. Bob used red maggots to give himself a 9lb bag of Roach, Rudd and Perch. Bob commented that Willow has now definitely improved after some restocking earlier this year.

Night fisherman, John Stanley, had a single Mirror Carp of 14lbs 7ozs using a single fruity boilie.

Catch report lottery winner, Peter Bull, can collect his £10 voucher from the shop on his next visit. Peter’s catch was also just a single Mirror Carp of 6lbs using a white coconut boilie. Peter’s report stated that the Carp was in perfect condition.

Returning angler, Baz Hoskins, did well at the end of his night session with a 21lbs Mirror Carp. Baz fished out of swim 6 and caught his carp under the trees near the aerator using a single hook bait.

Then along came Mark Sampson, visiting from Derby. Mark had a great 24 hours with a total of nine carp wetting his unhooking mat. Queenie was his biggest at 28lbs and she was complimented by six other mirrors to 23lbs 1oz and two Commons to 18lbs 5ozs. Mark fished over a bed of hemp and sweetcorn with Berkley Gulp Particle Bomb and a 12mm boilie. Mark reported that all of his haul were caught in the margins!

So although the weather is colder most visitors had a catch. Lets see what next week gives us.

    Tight Lines.

    Dear All,

Please find below our latest fishing catch report:-

Well this catch report really covers the last two weeks. We have had quite a few visitors over the Christmas and New Year break but not so many leaving catch reports.

Some fish have come to the bank but not in big numbers. The upper pools have also been fishing well with several anglers reporting reasonable bags of silvers from Willow and Island Pools. Bob Bartrum had numbers of Perch and Roach to 1lb plus during his visit last week.

Paignton’s, Louie Russel, had three carp to 18lbs. He told us he was just casting to the rising carp to see if he could get a take. So with this technique and the weather against him, he did well to get three reasonable sized fish.

After a long break from Newbarn, Ray Connor returned and banked himself a nice Mirror on luncheon meat.

Regular, John Stanley from Paignton, had two smaller carp of 10lbs 6ozs and 11lbs 10ozs, using boilies on the bottom, during a night session. John has also won this weeks catch report lottery prize.

Dave Pierce, fishing from hut 8, was rewarded with three carp to 10lbs 10ozs, consisting of two Mirrors and a Common.

His first fish of 2012 saw Richard park catch one 13lb Common Carp. Richard didn’t specify his bait.

Queenie had some time on the bank this holiday period and weighed in at 29lbs 80zs. He captor Tristan Smith used a bunch of red maggots to lure Queenie two the hook. Tristan also had 14lbs 11oz Common using a Cell boilie.

A secret bait helped Harry Workman of Kingsteinton to weigh in his 17lbs 12oz Mirror Carp.

And lastly Kevin Lock over a night session caught a nice 12lb Mirror Carp.

So we hope to be with you next week.

    Tight Lines.

    Regards,

    Richard.

Silvers have had a good week at Newbarn staring with Connor Nettleton fishing Island Pool from peg 3 had a 35lb bag of Roach, Rudd and Perch with one Roach over 2lbs. Connor fished about 12” down using caster.

Bob Bartrum of Brixham, had a good day on Willow with another bag of Roach Rudd and perch with his biggest Roach weighing in at 2lbs 8ozs.

Then part of the Newton Abbot Angling Club fished Mirror Lake with poles and their winner of the day had a bag of 50lbs, followed by second place of 48lbs 8ozs and third place of 26lbs 8ozs. Some carp were also banked to 20lbs+. They did very well for the time of year and the weather being so changeable.

Casper appeared at the bank to Bob Wooster and weighed in at 23lbs. Bob used a Mainline Cell boilie and was fishing from peg 2.

Paignton carper, Scott Bryant, landed one carp out of hut 8, of 14lbs using Mainline Grange boilies.

Friends John Stanley and ‘Biggy’ fished overnight from huts 1 and 3. Biggy took the night with his four carp consisting of three Mirrors to 16lbs, one of which was a nice Linear Mirror, and 15lb Ghostie. John had two Mirrors of 3lbs and 17lbs. Both Biggy and John used an unspecified boilie!

Returning angler, Brett Baldwin, of Paignton, had a good session weighing in 6 Carp which included two Leathers of 11lbs 12ozs and 9lbs 2ozs. His other four Commons were to 21lbs 15ozs. Again Brett used boilies on the bottom.

Lastly, Paul Sampson, visiting us from Torquay, had a night session which saw him catch six Carp, five Mirrors to 21lbs 2ozs and one Common of 12lbs. Yet again Paul was shy about telling us what boilie flavour he used.

So tight lines until next week.

    Richard.

Over three visits Martin Williams of Paignton had five Carp to 16lbs 12ozs. Martin’s catch included three Mirrors of 7lbs 3ozs, 8lbs 12ozs and 16lbs 12ozs. The two Commons were5lbs 2ozs and 12lbs 1oz. All of these carp were caught on 8mm Red Robin pellet on the hook over a bed of green pellet. (See Photos Attached).

A successful 48 hour session by Paignton carper, Scott Bryant, saw thirteen Carp to the bank. This consisted of eight commons to 15lbs, four Mirrors to 19lbs, and a Leather Carp of 8lbs. Scot used Grange boilies, Sprite F16’s and some of his own home made boilies.

New to carping, Andy Chase of Paignton, had his first ever Carp, a Leather of 20lbs, whilst being tutored by his friend! What a great way to start, well done Andy, keep it up. Andy also won our catch report lottery which he can use in our tackle and bait shop on-site.

Willow Pool was visited by Bob Bartrum this week and over a three and half hour session Bob had a bag of Roach, Rudd and Perch of 7lbs 4ozs. Bob said the fish were on the feed constantly and so had a great session albeit a short one.

We have a match on Mirror Lake this Sunday the 20th from 7:30a to 4:30pm. Newton Abbot AC will be seeing what they can get out after our netting which took place last week. So good luck to them.

We will have another report for you next week so until then Tight Lines.
