Description of the River Alan WaterAllan Water flows from the Ochil Hills to Dunblane and Bridge of Allan on to the River Forth. It rises on Wether Hill near Gleneagles and flows westwards through Blackford, Greanloaning, Kinbuck and Dunblane where it turns south to Bridge of Allan and joins the Forth to the north of Stirling. Approximately 15 Kilometres is controlled by the Allan Water Angling Improvement Association and season, weekly and daily permits are available. Good salmon, sea trout and brown trout fishing. Permits are also available from the Post Office in Dunblane. Fly only till the 1st of May. Spinning from the 1st of May to the 31st of October. No worm or any live bait fishing before the 1st of June or after the 26th of August. Tributaries include the River Knaik whichflows through Braco and joins Allan Water at Greanloaning, the Muckle Burn, Lodge Burn and Wharry Burn.
